After The Fire — Computer Art by kenne
Fires destroy
Fires renew
Opposites in
Need of
Each other.
After the fire
Comes the rain
Comes the sun
New life out of
Opposites.
Perception of
Opposites
Depends on
The moment of
Experience.
Without experience
Moments
Are projected
As the perception
Of the other.
The other is the
Teacher who meets the
Human need for a
Shared experience
Of being alive.

The Wave in Vermillion Cliffs National Monument — Images by kenne
For this land,
there must be
better leadership
for our tomorrows.
For this land,
there must be
protected lands
for the public.
For this land,
there must be
clean air
for the eagles to fly.
For this land,
there must be
protected heritage
for the Indians.
For this land,
there must be
sustainable development
for the desert west.
For this land,
there must be
environmental stewardship
for our children’s future.
For this land,
there must be
the union of
knowledge and wisdom.

Leading Nature Walk In Sabino Canyon — Image by kenne
Sun Through the Trees Near Sabino Creek — Image by kenne
This is autumn by the creek
almost anything can happen.
This is where you will find
the first morning light,
little fish in small stagnant pools —
Do they sense time is running out?

Mt. Lemmon Autumn Colors — Image by kenne
I watch my every step on the trail
not willing to taste the dirt from another fall
on these Santa Catalina Mountains trails.
These mountains are a heaven worth having
where little is said when you are not listening
to the passing of another autumn season.
A gust of wind stirs-up the fallen leaves
one more time before the first snowfall
covers the trails for the winter.
I thought I would hike this trail the last time
before returning to the desert trails
in search of new spiritual connections.
Now we seek to make it through the Holidays
with a family who tries as they may
to connect the disconnected one more time.

Granddad with New Born Granddaughter, Katelyn (September 24, 2003)
I was going through my photo archives today and updated the first photo with Katelyn.
Make me an angel
My grandchild bundle of joy
I held her up close.

Canyon Lands National Park Travel Scene (June 2014) — Image by kenne
Being in the right place at the right time
is knowing how to stay active and look around
as if it were your last day on earth.
It’s a wonderful world out there.

Catalina State Park Panorama by kenne
I do not know if the desert can be loved,
but it is the desert that my treasure lies hidden.

Patio Sunset Panorama by kenne
Sometimes happiness is a blessing,
but generally, it is a conquest.
Each day’s magic moment
helps us to change and sends us off
in search of our dreams.

Desert Sunset — Image by kenne
This Old Patio
This old patio is like a river bank
where I sit under an olive tree
and watch the evening sun go down.
And this old patio comforts the old man
whose weathered bent fingers hold
a whiskey solute to another desert sunset.
This old patio is where all things stop
the moment the sun disappears
behind the now black mountains.
And this old patio is like chips and salsa
with lots of jalapeno peppers holding
back tears not crying about leaving.

Summerhaven, Mt. Lemmon — Computer Painting by kenne
Cabin in the woods
a place to be alone
imposing my philosophy
on no one else, writing
words once forgotten
now for future thought.
Once erect, now bent
I stand with a head high
walking the nearby trails
where I stop a hiker
hoping I might share my
knowledge of the mountain.
Catalinas, Catalinas,
beautiful mountains
with your many biomes —
the queen of diversity
soon to be memories
in a time lost in my mind.

Fall Festival Art by kenne
They enter the mystery festival tents
glowing in the orange sunset.
The heat of summer long gone
leaving behind a soft breeze,
spinning the hanging art.
Time no longer here,
this is just a painting
of what was. And still
I feel the orange sunset
as the breeze gives life to art.

Don’t Fence Me In — Image by kenne
the West
invented itself,
then
reinvented itself —
first by cowboys,
then
by landowners,
which changed its
tone and image,
so much so
now only the
makings of myths,
not history.
