The Gray Clouds Of December   3 comments

After December Showers-Art-Edit-1-painting-blog.jpgSun Breaking Through Mountain Clouds — Photo-Artistry by kenne

The gray clouds of December
bring winter rains to the desert,
snow to the mountains high.
At day’s end, the sun shines through
just in time for Friday’s happy hour
at the Monsoon Bar in Tucson.
Street flooding begins to drain away
still deep enough to splash walkers
now freed from the day-long rains.

The art of mastering life is the prerequisite for all further forms of expression,

“The more often we see the things around us –
even the beautiful and wonderful things –
the more they become invisible to us.
That is why we often take for granted the beauty of this world:
the flowers, the trees, the birds, the clouds – even those we love.
Because we see things so often, we see them less and less.”

Swimp Boats At The Rocky Point Port   2 comments

Swimp Boats-1132_art blogSwimp Boats At The Rocky Point (Puerto Peñasco) Port — Computer Painting by kenne

“The meaning of life differs from man to man, from day to day, from hour to hour. What matters, therefore, is not the meaning of life in general but rather the specific meaning of a person’s life at a given moment.

To put the question in general terms would be to the question posed to a chess champion: “Tell me, Master, what is the best move in the world?”

There simply is no such thing as the best or even a good move apart from a particular situation in a game and the particular personality of one’s opponent.

The same holds for human existence. One should not search for an abstract meaning of life. Everyone has his own specific vocation or mission in life to carry out a concrete assignment which demands fulfillment. Therein he cannot be replaced, nor can his life be repeated. Thus, everyone’s task is as unique as is his specific opportunity to implement it.

As each situation in life represents a challenge to man and presents a problem for him to solve, the question of the meaning of life may actually be reversed. Ultimately, man should not ask what the meaning of life is, but rather he must recognize that it is he who is asked. In a word, each man is questioned by life; and he can only answer to life by answering for his own life; to life he can only respond by being responsible.”

Old Downtown Rocky Point Painting   Leave a comment

Old Shoreline-3369 Highpass Oil Painting blogPainting by kenne

An old fishing town
On a rock across the bay
From see-through condos.

Shrimp boats come and go
Charter boats take tourists out
To fish and watch whales.

Drug stores, restaurants
And fish markets line main street
Where Al Capone lived.

Legal drugs by day
Safe for tourists on the streets
Cartel moves at night.

Farmers MarketFarmers’ Market — Computer Painting by kenne

Sunday
in the plaza
vendor tables
shaded by tents
fresh produce
baked goods
prickly pear jelly, etc
all locally grown
and produced
products

 I stroll
plaza grounds
with my
fresh cup of
cowboy coffee
rubbing
elbows with
friends and
strangers —
life is good

The ravens paint the picture
interrupting a manifestation of being
when what seems close is still far away

on a dark and cloudy morning,
yet knowing not to sit in silence.

Poetry, What Is It?   4 comments

Decoding Poetry

Poetry
What is it?
Is it not all things
Feeling?
Thoughts?
Ideas?
Wisdom?
Beauty?
Music?
Art?
in human existence?

Is it not all things
Love?
Hate?
Despair?
Fear?
Greed?
Charity?
of human experience?

Yet,
some claim
the words of poetry,
as if anointed
announcing to the world,
“I know the code!”

Poetry is not code,
allowing entrance
only to a few
fettered and packaged
for the scholarly.

If I experience
my own life
in the words another,
it is poetry –
for it is I
who holds the code
to my existence.

In the end,
there is no right
or wrong answer –
poetry is like dancing,
if it feels good,
do it!

Sunlight Through The Aspens   Leave a comment

Aspen Trail -- 10-22-12Sunlight Through The Aspens on Mt. Lemmon– Computer Painting by kenne

When the mind’s eye rests on objects illuminated by truth and reality,
it understands and comprehends them, and functions intelligently;
but when it turns to the twilight world of change and decay,
it can only form opinions, its vision is confused and its beliefs shifting,
and it seems to lack intelligence.
