Artwork by Kenne Jaxon Bailey (December 2017)
For many years I have used Photoshop to create electronic Christmas cards.
This year I am collaborating with our five-year-old kindergarten grandson, Jaxon.
Maybe I’ve started a tradition!
In the paper
in the scissors
in the lines
in the colors
in the string of lights
in the wonder of his eyes —
JAXON —
in the star.

Long weekends
in our city of escape
created ownership
that time bought back.
Dreams have replaced
the amped erogenous
moments, now searching
for new zones.

“Wired” — Computer Painting by kenne
a poem is
a dragonfly
darting near water
looking
for a place to rest upon
filled with freshness.
a poem is
of flight down
by the creekside —
standing water.
a poem is. . .
a poem is
wired.

Magic Mushroom On Mt. Lemmon — Computer Art by kenne
I went on this magical trip…
Out of reality, in a fantasy world,
Everything seemed to be so peaceful and perfect!
All harmony… no hate…
I soon realized I got to see the raw truth of reality,
but from a different point of view,
of contrasts and with no metaphors nor euphemisms.

The Photographer — Image by kenne
THE PHOTOGRAPHER
The photographer (artist)
seeks to connect what
is already connected, the
past, present, and future
in a moment of existence
while being a traveler
in other people’s reality
sharing an awareness
of the present experience.
An awareness of the moment
with the whole being, the artist
is of the experience —
the essence of existence.
The artist desires to share
the essence, but the resulting image
is about the experience, not
of the experience —
the Tao of observation.
In the process
of capturing an event
the photographer feels
and sees in the moment,
the Tao of an event —
the Tao that is projected
is outside the moment
hence is not the
essence of Tao.

someone to comfort
someone to love.

Arcosanti, Paolo Soleri Bells (June 7, 2017) Images by kenne
It is only logical that the pauperization of our soul and
the soul of society coincide with the pauperization of the environment.
One is the cause and the reflection of the other.

Reflections — Image by kenne
The empty vase, longing to be filled,
Waits patiently in the sink
For someone to turn on the faucet
The empty vase, full of love
Denies the fact that at this moment
It is just an empty vase
In a land where everyone is an empty vase
It is the human’s job
To hold all the flowers
Even an empty vase
Is fully capable
Of holding its own weight

“Everyone likes birds.
What wild creature is more accessible
to our eyes and ears,
as close to us and everyone in the world,
as universal as a bird?”

What is it about a work of art, even when it is bought and sold in the market, that makes us distinguish it from . . . pure commodities? A work of art is a gift, not a commodity. . . works of art exist simultaneously in two “economies”, a market economy and a gift economy. Only one of these is essential, however: a work of art can survive without the market, but where there is no gift, there is no art.

Bee and Thistle Computer Art by kenne
The first thing he does each morning is look outside
his morning pray without words, a prayer of the senses.
As important as breathing to his being alive, he plans
his day to include time with nature to give him truth.
These are the times he commits himself to something
absolute — life, to beauty of being guided in art and thought.
