Cartoon de jour. . . need I say more!   1 comment

A long as we continue to put place more importance on guns than life, this David Fitzsimmons cartoon I posted in April of 2011 will continue to be current. — kenne

Capturing The Moment — Nicholas Bailey – Window of San Xavier Mission   Leave a comment

This past March when Nick, Jaxon and Kate visited us, we didn’t make it to the San Xavier Mission. Still, this image of Nick taken six years ago remains one of my favorites. — kenne

The Path Of Dreams   2 comments

Giffords Office“Sonoran Heat” — Computer Painting by kenne

The Path of Dreams

There were no trails where I walk.
I walk the desert, poor and broke
thinking of family in Mexico.

Continuing north, I make a path
around the cactus and desert brush.

The sun, still low in the east,
temperature now rising faster
than the morning sun.

Low in water, I find an
old mesquite tree to rest
in its shade until late afternoon.

Then, I will continue following
the path of my dreams —
carefully watching for
green and white trucks.

“It is easier to tell a person what life is not, rather than to tell them what it is. A child understands weeds that grow from lack of attention, in a garden. However, it is hard to explain the wildflowers that one gardener calls weeds, and another considers beautiful ground cover.”

“While there is perhaps a province in which the photograph can tell us nothing more than what we see with our own eyes, there is another in which it proves to us how little our eyes permit us to see.”

Desert Evening Primrose   1 comment

Italian Springs 2013Desert Evening Primrose — Grunge Art by kenne

I grow

in the bajadas

along rocky slopes

pushing aside

dry gravel

in search of sun.

No rain

shortens my growth,

hastening

my buds

to open early

in the cool

of the evening,

closing by

mid-morning.

I am

a primrose,

oenothera primiveris

by name.

Ravens“Two Ravens” — Grunge Art by kenne

Two ravens find love
Sharing many emotions —
Together for life.

Known as a jokester
This black bird of nevermore —
Messenger for gods.

The bird’s intense gaze
depicting evil to some —
souls of wicked priests.

Disregard the myths
Of dark pressing messages —
nevermore to break.

Suddenly It’s Spring . . . Again   3 comments

Sweetwater Trail Wasson Peak“Suddenly It’s Spring” — Image by kenne

Suddenly it’s spring
Colors of winter
Turning into yesterday’s
Dark inner soul.

Suddenly it’s spring
Winter’s fading landscape
Exploding bright colors
Nature’s paint by numbers.

Suddenly it’s spring
Renewing old dreams
My wanderlust drifting
Opened to the sky.

Suddenly it’s spring
Nature’s voices sing
Awaken longing spirits
Laced with poetry.

Suddenly it’s spring
Tamed love burns
Attracted by fire colors
A virgin again.

Suddenly it’s spring
Fresh silky skin
Milk and honey
Luring new loves.

Suddenly it’s spring . . . again.
