My Thanksgiving rose
It is yours if you want it
A gift of my love.

A place to start
look at you
kenne g
you have taken multi-tasking to a fault
you need to be
more focused
uncomplicated
this is what they tell me
information is good
opinion
music
poetry
photo art
all are good
but, you are inexorable
demurred, I say
I do what I do
because I can
maybe you can’t,
you’re the problem
not me
all things are connected
not an isolated island
I choose to stay linked
open secret places
plant seeds
harvest thoughts
bucket ideas
but, you discard mind droppings
I mix and match
generating energy
to form inspiration
feel the heat
see the stream
it’s all shit
the shit sits
generating food
for tomorrow’s ideas
powering the music
stand up and dance
when I’m not here
there will be a place to start
but, you can add to my pile

(I wrote this poem November 2008 in response to being told that my blog needed to focus on one thing like photography, music, poetry, or art not many things — advice not taken.)
Are You Ready For Halloween? (Grandson, Kenne Jaxon Bailey) — Image by kenne
Daughter Katie posted a picture of Jaxon in his Ninja Turtle Leonardo costume on Instagram and Facebook (See image below.), October 25th. I did a little Photoshop work on it and created a Leonardo in Space image. This kid is ready for Halloween.

“At The End Of The Day” (Puerto Peñasco)– Image by kenne
At the end of the day
I watch the setting sun.
At the end of the day
I can rest in the moment.
At the end of the day
I get nothing for nothing.
At the end of the day
I reflect on the day.
At the end of the day
I attest to my resolve.
At the end of the day
I am at one with myself.
At the end of the day
I give thanks for the living.
At the end of the day
I give praise to life.
At the end of the day
I capture the moment.
At the end of the day
I remember the moments.

Cactus Wren Grunge Art by kenne
Once in every lifetime
a little bird may come
alone and forgotten
knocked down by the sun.
Every man may choose
to turn and walk away
or take the bird into his hand
and bid him stay.

I look to you
keyboard
to say something to me
to bring me some intuitive wisdom
to console me, construct me,
converge me
to send me a message through my fingers
and your page
to reveal something
I wish I already knew.

Two-Tailed Swallowtail Butterfly Art by kenne
I remember the first time I saw a swallowtail, trying to capture the details of this large attractive butterfly as it fluttered by. That was many years ago. Since moving to southern Arizona, I have photographed many, and one of the things I have noticed is that they seem to be attracted to purple flowers.
I continue to be fascinated by this beautiful creature, often taking some my photos and turning them into art like the above image. This art was created from a photographed I took in August 0f 2012.
Vladimir Nabokov wrote in his novel, Lolita, of the “splendid, pale yellow creature with black blotches, blue crenels and a cinnabar eyespot above each chrome-filled black tail.”

Computer Art by kenne
In August of 2011, I created this artwork from a photo daughter Kate took the first time they left Ft. Collins. At that time they were moving back to Texas, but the stay didn’t last long before they moved back to Ft. Collins.
When they made a move back to Texas, I did a blog posting, “Hope is Coming to Texas.” Hope is now on the move again from Ft. Collins but this time to New Hampshire. The journey begins today, and once again they will see wind turbines.
The wind turbines keep on turning and Kate, like me keep chasing them like Don Quixote — “The truth may be stretched thin, but it never breaks, and it always surfaces above lies, as oil floats on water.”
In the posting six years ago I shared the following poem. Since I haven’t yet written one on Kate and family’s latest move, this one will have to suffice.
Windmills of Hope
Arriving in Texas
where pickups are still king
Yellow buses grazing
under a cotton-ball sky
Extreme traffic on the right
sensible on the left
Just remember
I ain’t your dude
You can’t buy me with
a “Two-Step” lottery card
Make it a beer or two
at the old saloon
Times are different
so continue lying to me
