Capturing The Moment — Dancing With A Dragonfly. . .   5 comments

SCVN Nature Walk #3“Dancing with a Dragonfly” — Image by kenne

dancing with a dragonfly…

The shimmer of blue changes
As you dragonfly move,
Your cellophane wings
Fragile, yet brings
You to me,
I cannot see the world
As you do, true?

You can see mine
            Just fine.
The sunlight
glints as the
Colour changes
To a different hue.

one moment
Green
The next
Blue

Dancing with you
As you float then soar,
is impossible …
As you pitch and roll
Leave me entranced
As you exit…

Without saying so much
As goodbye,

Must mean,
You will,
Be back,
Soon.

Please.

Nature Boy
by Eden Ahbez

There was a boy
A very strange, enchanted boy
They say he wandered very far
Very far, over land and sea
A little shy and sad of eye
But very wise was he

And then one day,
One magic day he passed my way
While we spoke of many things
Fools and Kings
This he said to me

The greatest thing you’ll ever learn
Is just to love and be loved in return.

All my work is an act of discovery.

Seek not to define
You know it when you see it
I know you see it

opposites are one

composing yesteryear’s coldness
stretching through time
standing still in the moment

searching the unrestricted
working with opposites
reassuring in sameness

emphasizing divergence
promising order
pleasing to self

Ode To A Butterfly

Butterfly, oh butterfly, why do you hide in the shadows?
Spread wide your wings, let your heart sing
And come dance with me in the meadow

Butterfly, oh butterfly, why do you fear?
You’ll never stray, I’ll lead the way
Just follow the path, I’ll be near

Butterfly, oh butterfly, have you no hope?
Drink of the sun, our life’s just begun
Thro time’s hills and valleys we’ll lope

Butterfly, oh butterfly, dare you to dream?
On our hearts we depend, shall we follow the wind
And consign to the fates grander scheme?

Flowers are not meant
to last forever,
so we cherish
the moments.

Most cactus flowers
last only a day
leaving behind
beautiful memories

for those fortunate
to gaze  upon them
in the early
morning sun

while others
share the moment
painting
what they see.

A priestly man
once traveled
the desert southwest

mounted a horse
armed only with love
a force without
a presidio of soldiers

connecting with people
of many tribes

building adobe missions
each opened to the morning sun
located within walking distance
understanding the desert paradox.

Breezy zephyr sweeps the fields
And the thistle sways and yields
But the butterfly clings fast
As a sailor to the mast
As a banner iu the blast
Which when widest sweep its folds
Firmest still its proud slave holds

Colors give life

to that without

motion —

but what is existence

without motion,

locked in time

forever!

Painting An Indian Paintbrush   4 comments

Indian Paintbrush
by
Bob MacKenzie

Like flames, I think,
as I reach toward them,
reach toward Eternity,
where they hang
on the edge:
flames hung
out there between
the open heaven
above the open
earth below.

All around,
the Gods of the Rockies
watch
as I hang there,
one hand grasping
some scrawny pine,
its root straining
the loose soil lifting,
my other hand, left,
somewhere in Eternity
grasping a handful
of fire.

Up toward your smile
I climb
with my blazing trophy,
place it carefully
at your feet
as you lean back
against the mountain
like some goddess
of the earth.

Somewhere above,
there is an eagle:
somewhere in my side,
a pain;
and I am chained
to this rock
for life.
