Knowing a Woman
When you have really loved a woman,
you come to know how little you knowthat woman.
It is what you do not know about her,
this magical body, magnificent mind,
this soul you have drowned yours in,
who throbs to the flowing with the moon,
that stops you dead in your tracks
as you watch her bent over the oven
or stepping from her shower
or lying spread and ready
for you on your bed.
It is what you do not know
about this blessed thing called woman
that is the only poem of the world
worth the writing or worth the knowing.

TUCSON, Ariz. (KGUN) — It’s been just over a year since Old Tucson Studios closed its doors.
The famous western attraction shuttered because of the pandemic. Now, after a long and at times
secretive process, Pima County is getting ready to announce who will take over the lease.
“The proposal period now has closed and they are actively considering whatever proposals have come in,”
said filmmaker and Chair of the Arizona Film Expo, Daryl Mallett.
Mallet was also a member of the Pima County Old Tucson Task Force. They helped in the county’s
process of finding the right developer to take over the lease of Old Tucson. Although he doesn’t know
who County Administrator Chuck Huckelberry will recommend to the supervisors, he does get a sense
the decision will be announced soon. — Source: KGUN9.com

a blues dance hall
in a black community
in bayou country
not far from Houston.
Music lovers from
all over southeast Texas
came to dance
drink beer, eat smoked brisket
and sweet potato pie.
Born in Double Bayou
Texas bluesman Pete Mayes
provided the house band
at the “the place” before time
and hurricanes condemned it.
Still standing
surrounded by overgrown
weeds and Spanish moss-draped
trees fronted by a historical marker
by Eagle Ferry Road.
A Christmas Day matinee
became an annual event
where the House Rockers
rocked out the blues
for holiday merrymakers.
