A rope swing hangs still
Under the large live oak tree
Releasing the soul.

Against the blue sky
In a valley of slate green
Under which dreams rise.

Man Decides by Anshumali Baruah

Lines on paper, stand out
The lines transform into concrete
Glass and steel find their places.
A domain is defined.

Man walks into this domain
Feelings of acceptance or refusal accompany him
A fate is decided.

The domain constructed:
Finds its fulfillment in its users
Users and activities act as one
Thus giving this domain a meaning:
A sense of being built.
But if this purpose falter
The domain degrades
Leaving a void in its place.
A pain for the creator
Irreparable to the user.

But would it not be wiser:
To include man as the lines are drawn;
To indulge him in the choices;
And thus arrive at a successful domain
Creating harmony for all?

Shape
is everywhere
you look,
unless you
count air.

A photographer
is first a viewer
looking for
contrasts
in shapes.

Different
kinds of shapes
convey
different
massages.

Decide
on the message
before
capturing
the moment.

Like an old tree

standing

along the desert trail

we are not perfect —

growing

old together

recognizing

our imperfection

each step of the way

becoming

more perfect by

authenticating

our imperfection

staying

vulnerable together —

embracing

our essence.

Does It Matter . . .   3 comments

“Does it matter whether one is required to complete the work
or whether one is free to desist from the work
if you must meet a final art that certainly you did not make?”

*****

“Philosophical problems are conceptual confusions
that arise when a form of utterance appropriate
to one mode of discourse is mistakenly used in the wrong context
Confusions must be unpicked employing ordinary uses of language.”

One Of My Early Black And White Photographs   3 comments

normal-il-19740002e-framed-blog“A Rainy Evening” (Normal, Illinois) — Image by kenne

Photography in the 20th Century
was all about film photography
Ektachrome was my choice,
however, occasionally I shot in B&W.

“A Rainy Evening” is a B&W
photo taken in 1974, by
definition a vintage image
having been captured before 1980.

I rarely used B&W film
with my first SLR camera,
a Canon FTb QL that I still have.
“A Rainy Evening,” is a print

recently rediscovered,
by Mary Ann,
inspired
by the lighting and
reflections of the moment.

I have no idea of the settings,
but it is reasonable to say
a very slow shutter speed with

a fairly low f-stop.

I’m not sure anybody cares
just one of many photo
projects taking me
to where I am today.

Falling Up In A Down World   Leave a comment

Romero Pools“Connected Disconnection” — Image by kenne

Connected Disconnection

Trapped in a tailspin
with a loss for words
arms reaching out
in a world of disconnect
trying to reconnect.

Turning
reaching,
falling up
in a down world

Trapped between
the what I do
and how you react
in a world of disconnect
trying to reconnect.

Disconnected connection
over what I think
and how you feel
is this our existence?
trying to reconnect.

Still without words
the act of connecting
becomes a disconnect
is it all an illusion?
trying to reconnect.

Falling in
falling out
always looking
for the answers
trying to reconnect.

Finding the words
hanging up
on the answers
connected disconnection,
connected disconnection.

Turning
reaching,
falling up
in a down world

Connected disconnection —
disconnection.

The Outpost   Leave a comment

Various Outposts

You traded places
with the mystery — fire-torn, insulated leaves,
the steady eyes of the huckleberry —   (Haven’t you

been sad most of your life? Come on,
all those outposts in the middle . . . they say the end
of growth is that you’ll suffer “purely” . . .)

One night, remember? No envy or hope.
What you sought
was here, what was done

could not be undone by you: there was the owl,
the night’s vice president,
the tangled sheets of moon —
