Raven Leaving Palm Tree — Image by kenne
“Departure”
A raven rests on fronded throne,
Where desert winds through palm have blown.
Its feathers ink against the sky,
A secret kept where shadows lie.
No caw, no cry, just silent grace,
It lifts into the sunlit space.
From tropic green to open blue,
It leaves the tree—and me—askew.
A parting like a whispered charm,
Dark wings retreating into calm.
And in its flight, the silence grew,
As if the palm now mourned it too.

Under Tucson skies
Under Tucson skies
Desiring the wings to fly
In a sky so deep blue
Satisfied to walk my days
Under Tucson skies.
Sometimes I get a little lost
Acting like a kid flying high
I don’t know why
the thrill is still here
Satisfied under Tucson skies.
I know it an’t just
one of those things
It’s something so nice
So I can’t get use to
Something so right.
I see beautiful colors
I want to write about
But there an’t no substitute
For the real thing
I know there an’t no substitute.

Sun’s low angle finds a way
Breaking through the clouds.

Sulphur Butterfly and Yardflowers Mixed Art (September 2012) — by kenne
Understand the relationship
Between a butterfly and a flower.
Understand the relationship
Between food and hunger,
Between drink and thirst.
But dear sir, let not the heart
Go loose without restraint.
Go apart from all and stay.
