Boulder Dam Viewed from the Arizona Side (November 5, 2020) — Panorama by kenne

Most of the time, when we drive to Las Vegas from Tucson, we pass by the dam.
The last time we stopped, we drove the two-lane road on top of the dam on our way back
to Houston in 2007. The Mike O’Callaghan–Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge was under
construction and was not completed until 2010. The drive across the Boulder Dam
would take quite a while, depending on the volume of traffic.

Currently, the Lake Mead water level is 147.41 feet below the full pool of 1,229.00,
40% of its full capacity. The Colorado River, which supplies Nevada,
Arizona and California, most of its water, has long been chronically overused
and has dwindled during two decades of mostly dry years. The drought has been
worsened by higher temperatures unleashed by climate change.

Bates Nut Farm, Santa Is Coming — Photo Essay   3 comments

Bates Nut Farm is located in the beautiful picturesque oak filled valley of Valley Center, California. Bates Nut Farm started out as a walnut farm, but now sells a variety of nuts from all over the world and has become well-known for its special events held throughout the year on the 100-acre ranch. This past Thanksgiving weekend included over 100 artisans selling a variety of American handmade crafts and fine art, with each day having live music and free hayride with Santa.

The Road Goes On And On Into The Sunset   9 comments

“The Road Goes On And On Into The Sunset”  —  Image by kenne

A large drop of sun lingered on the horizon

and then dripped over and was gone,

and the sky was brilliant over the spot where it had gone,

and a torn cloud, like a bloody rag,

hung over the spot of its going.

And dusk crept over the sky from the eastern horizon,

and darkness crept over the land from the east.
