Early on the morning of May 22nd, we began our road trip/cruise by driving up to Las Vegas, a familiar drive since we frequently go to Vegas. Since Joy gets food and room comps, our stay in Vegas at the MGM Park, nestled between the T-Mobile Arena and New York-New York Resort.

Our food and drink at the Eataly in the Park, the largest Italian marketplace with restaurants worldwide. We always seem to order more than we can eat.
THE JOSHUA TREE HAS AN AVERAGE LIFE SPAN OF 150 TO 200 YEARS AND IS ONLY FOUND IN THE MOJAVE DESERT
When Mormon settlers first saw the plant they dubbed the “Joshua tree,” it reminded them of the bushy-bearded biblical leader. When Territorial Governor John C. Frémont saw it during an 1844 trek through the Mohave Desert and they are plentiful along U.S. Route 93 from Wikieup to Wickenburg. The drive, which is familiar to us having many a trip from Tucson to Las Vegas.
Mastro’s Ocean Club Gourmet Restaurant In The Shops at Crystals at Aria Resort and Casino — Photo-Artistry by kenne
Many are making love. Up above, the angels in the unshaken ether and crystal of human longing are braiding one another’s hair, which is strawberry blond and the texture of cold rivers. They glance down from time to time at the awkward ecstasy— it must look to them like featherless birds splashing in the spring puddle of a bed— and then one woman, she is about to come, peels back the man’s shut eyelids and says, look at me, and he does.
Magic Rocks Display in the Aria Resort and Casino, Las Vegas — Images by Kenne
One week ago, we received a call from Justin and Jerri. We learned that they were in Las Vegas on their much-delayed honeymoon. They would be spending five days there and asked if we would be interested in coming up to Vegas to have dinner with them. After giving it some thought, we decided to drive up Thursday and return on Saturday.
We had dinner at Maggiano’s Little Italy on Las Vegas Boulevard that evening and drove south of Vegas Friday afternoon to see the Magic Rocks in the desert.
This past Saturday (March 9th) we were in Las Vegas and watched some of the fundraising for the St. Baldrick’s Foundation ($500,000 Goal) at Nine Fine Irishmen-New York New York Hotel & Casino. The St. Baldrick’s Foundation is a volunteer-powered charity that funds more in childhood cancer research grants than any organization except the U.S. government. This was a real entertaining and fun event.
Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area Panorama by kenne
The Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area is an easy 15-mile drive west of Las Vegas, Nevada. Located in the Mojave Desert with a beautiful desert landscape, but as a resident of the Sonoran Desert, I find the Mojave Desert very harsh. Like most deserts, the higher elevations are much more diverse in plant and animal life. This image was taken near the Visitors Center. A one-way paved loop road, 13 miles long, provides vehicle access to many of the features in the area and to more challenging primitive roads.
“One and Only” Wedding Picture Joy and I had been partners for 16 years before deciding to elope to Las Vegas, getting married at the Clark County Court House in 2002,
which distraught family and friends. The couple who were our witnesses took the only picture — Can you believe I didn’t have my camera! We tend to do things in a non-traditional way.
