Space Shuttle Endeavour’s Tucson Flyover Was Almost Directly Over Our House.

It was 11:15 a.m., so some shots were almost directly into the sun.

Coming in from the east and heading south after passing over above.

Heading south over central Tucson.

Diffidently better images at right angles to the sun.

Tucson Remembers, January 8, 2011 – One Year Out   2 comments

Joy puts into words her feeling — one of many in this supportive community. — Image by kenne

We had been in our new hometown, Tucson, only six months before it was known around the globe for the
Tucson Tragedy. A year later, we have witness a year of triumph over tragedy.
Tomorrow will be a special day
honoring the spirit of Tucson — a celebration of unity.
This slideshow contains some of the images I captured
during the week after the tragedy.

Lorenzo Alonso realizes his jumper cables are too short to reach from his car to Cicreo Mata’s truck. Alonso’s battery died from sitting for over four hours in traffic backups on I-45 near Quitman Street.

Houston, you shared our pain, now we return the favor.

Ice closed the Robinson Road / Woodlands Parkway bridge that spans I-45 this morning in Oak Ridge North.

A Sad Day For Humanity   3 comments

The Desert – Both Rapturous And Terrifying

It was only recently that the desert became my dwelling place,

A place known for a strong relationship with spiritual quest,

A quest of the soul on a journey into the infinite space,

A space where nature’s contrasts paint a deceiving picture,

A picture not of abandonment, but of a confusing contrast,

A contrast of being whole in the void of nothingness,

A nothingness that gives birth to all meaning and value,

A value of individuality and sharper interaction with humanity,

A humanity that is responsible for all added to and taken from the universe.
