Six time a year the Southern Arizona Roadrunners sponsors one-mile fun runs for children and one of the runs takes place in Sabino Canyon. In spite of possible rain, hundreds of children were up at sunrise to run in the canyon.
As in the past, the Sabino Canyon Volunteer Naturalists (SCVN) a nature demonstration table in the registration area. Naturalist, Ramona Pease, was kept busy answering questions of the inquisitive children. We were most impressed by the number of children who had been in the canyon before as part of the SCVN kindergarten/elementary school program.
