Golden Columbine On Mt. Lemmon — Image by kenne
“Where the birds of spring, in their season sing,
Their spontaneous melodies;
Where the columbine and the stately pine
Stand quivering in the breeze;
Where the aspen tall hugs the trachyte wall,
And the wild rose bedecks the hill;
Where the willows weep, and their vigils keep,
On the banks of the San Miguel.”

Wildflowers Color The Mountain Meadows From Blossom To Blossom — Image by kenne
There are days we live
as if death were nowhere
in the background; from joy
to joy to joy, from wing to wing,
from blossom to blossom to
impossible blossom, to sweet impossible blossom.

Two-tailed Swallowtail — Images by kenne
I chase butterflies
through the mountain meadow,
not with a net, but with a camera —
capturing the moment,
which becomes forever.

I first spotted the wild turkey under a pine tree along the Meadow Trail on Mt. Lemmon. There are several chicks with her, which are difficult to see as they walk near the Mt. Lemmon Sky Center.

If you look carefully, you can see three chicks in the weeds to the left of her.

Wild turkey with chicks,
Small in size cutting through weeds,
Follow her rear.
Hers, a graceful stride,
Chicks scurry not far behind,
Picking at the ground.
I follow awhile,
As she eyes my every step,
Shooting without gun.
