A 4th 0f July Bath — Photo Essay   6 comments

On this 4th of July morning, I observed a Cooper’s Hawk bathing in our patio fountain.
Many birds drink from the fountain and occasionally will splash water on themselves.
However
, this morning was the first time I witnessed a hawk bathing in the water.

  3. Tooooooo cool! Remind me, does your birdbath have a fountain or a trickle of water movement, or is it just still water? Some birds seem to be drawn to the trickle, others seem to want it completely calm. Thanks for sharing!

    • The fountain is a boy and girl pouring water into a small shell from which three trickles fall into a much larger shell, (what the hawk was bathing in) on a pedestal.

  4. Amazing pictures. What a treat! Mary and Kenneth

  5. Wow, that’s a sight to see!
