Capturing The Moment — Sonoran Mountain King Snake   4 comments

Sonoran Mountain Kingsnake (Lampropeltis pyromelana) — Image by kenne

I was bushwhacking to Brinkley Point when I spotted this colorful snake. I was about to step over a log, about one hundred feet from reaching Brinkley Point on Mt. Lemmon. This snake appeared to be a little over a little over 36″ long. This was my second opportunity to photograph a mountain kingsnake, this time with more success. It was about a year ago on Mt. Lemmon that I saw my first mountain kingsnake but was only able to get an out of focus, headless shot.
