The Monday hiking group spent the morning hiking one of my favorite trail, the Palisades Trail. The trail head is near the Girl Scout Camp. The trail takes the hiker by Shower Point to Bud Springs, and one is interested in a 15 mile hike, a series of connecting trails will lead to the Sabino Canyon visiter’s center. Some of our group made it to Bud Springs, with others turning around at various points along the trail. The trail is all downhill, till you turn back to the trailhead. The upper trail is in tall ponderosa pines, moving into parts of the 2003 Aspen Fire, which even with the cool mountain temps, the sun can take a toll on the hiker.
One of my desires is to hike the 15 miles to the Sabino Canyon visitor’s center this fall. Please let me know if you would like to hike it with me, since I prefer not to hike it by myself.
