“If a child is to keep alive his inborn sense of wonder . . .
he [or she] needs the companionship of at least one adult
who can share it, rediscovering the joy, excitement, and
mystery of the world we live in.”

  1. How true! A child needs someone who isn’t in a hurry and will stop to watch a caterpillar or butterfly for as long as they want. Grandparents or retired adults seem to do that best.

  2. A lot of truth in that quote!

  3. Kids outside is crucial! Thank you, Sabino Canyon Vol.Naturalists. “Researchers from Aarhus University in Denmark compared the risk of developing 16 different mental health disorders in adulthood with how much green space surrounded each child’s residence. They found growing up near green space was associated with a lower risk of developing psychiatric illness in adulthood — by anywhere from 15% to 55%.”
