The Tree of Forgiveness

sun setting beyond
the shoulders of
mountain gods
ducks swimming
in shadows of
togetherness
two aging souls
musing
dark nights past
sensing
a perceptual edge
in the present
voices grow louder
alongside
sounds of future’s
silence
standing beneath
the tree of
forgiveness
where the gods
take pity
revealing hope
without retreat
