It’s not easy being purple
you don’t blend in with
so many other ordinary things
And people tend to stare at you
‘Cause you stand out
Like a sore thumb
next to yellow blossoms.

    • An interest to the more common green prickly pear cactus.

      • Indeed the greens are the only ones I had ever observed. My grandmother actually had a cactus garden with the green variety. That’s where she harvested the fruit to make prickly pear jelly that I had mentioned once before. It’s amazing how something like these can be so lovely yet “so prickly”..:-)
