Labor Day Gratitude

On this Labor Day,
we pause in quiet thanks for
long years of labor.

The work was steady,
sometimes hard yet always true,
carrying us on.

Now the gift is ours:
wandering untraveled roads,
rest beneath new skies.

Labor gave us this—
the grace of choice, and the time
to live wide and free.
