One of my favorite art museums is the Menil Collection, in Houston and home of the Cy Twombly Gallery. “A collaboration between the Menil Collection, the Dia Foundation, and the artist himself, the Cy Twombly Gallery reflects not only the de Menil family’s commitment to working with key contemporary artists, but also to a standard of presentation that provides visitors an intimate, unmediated experience of an artist’s work. The works on view in the Cy Twombly Gallery comprise a veritable retrospective of the artist’s career that includes a number of large canvases, sculptural works, and suites of paintings and drawings.” Cy Twombly, dead at 83 in Rome. . . read more.

  1. This news marks the passing of one of the most outstanding creative art genius’ of our times…We have been lifted up by Cy Twombly and blessed with his creative vision and energy. Cy’s passing is a great loss to the world community of art.

    • I find his work unbelievable in that I see it making us question the very nature of art and art making, by exploring the child-like joy of creation, without it being crappy art.

  2. What a great artist, you are so fortunate to have so many of his works. I can’t believe I hadn’t heard of the Cy Twombly gallery- what a wonderful excuse to see the rest of the USA. Books and the web just don’t do it for the impact of his work. Cheers Sue from Oz.
