Many consider Edward Weston’s Nautilus Shell one of the best modernist photographs of all time. Not surprisingly, the $10 photo purchased in 1927 was auctioned off for a whopping $1,082,500 at Sotheby’s auction house in New York, April 13th. The print had remained in the buyer’s (Bernice Lovett) family for the past eighty years.
