Ken and Mary’s Blues Project has had “die hard” followers for years, both in terms of hard core and the Die Hards, as in Gene Kelton and . . .
This spring’s event was to have Gene Kelton and the Die Hards, and as late as Friday, Gene sent an email letting people know, rain or shine, they would be there. However, one should never underestimate Houston’s heavy rains, especially when getting several within a week. As fate would have it, Gene and his band members, all who live around the bay area, experienced flooding.
So, late on the day of the spring event, Gene called Ken and Mary to let them know they would not be able to make it. Since several of those who regularly attend the Blues Projects are musicians, there would always be music that is unless Ken and Mary get flooded. Still,
Ken and Mary began sending out the word seeking a band for the evening. Soon, word came back that Curtis King and three other musicians would be able to make it – late, but they would be there. A big thanks to the network of blues lovers — and of course, to Curtis and the band.
