The Rhythm Room

There was a place
Somewhere near downtown
Always rock’n
Embracing the sound
Echoing in time
Without a hour clock.
Down in old H-town.

More than a room,
The grandest of joints
Rhythm was its fame
So no need to point
For people all knew
Blues was its claim
Down in old H-town.

The Room now gone
Replaced by many
So too the sound
Losing out to money
Rhythm in the blues
Forever to be found
Down in old H-town.

  1. The Rhythm Room was one of the greatest sounding rooms I ever played in. I performed/recorded a live radio broadcast there for a Joe’s Roadhouse segment there in June 2003. The AC was not working. The room was like a sauna. The stage was like an oven. I was having trouble singing because I couldn’t breath. I backed up from the mic gasping for air and the bass player (standing too close to an open mic) yelled “breeeeath muthafu*&$#!” His comment was broadcast “LIVE” over the KPFT airwaves (and internet). Hilariously funny at the moment but it’s a wonder the FCC didn’t bust the whole show!

  2. Wonderful pics! We really miss you guys!
