Sprint for Life   5 comments

Late yesterday, Joy and I drove down to the Medical Center where we would be staying the The Rotary House International hotel, which is a part of The University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center.

We chose to do this rather than leave The Woodlands at 6:00 a.m. to participate in the Blanton-Davis Ovarian Research Program 13th Annual Sprint for Live. Since Jill, Greg and James were also staying there (Jill & Greg work for MD Anderson), we could have dinner with them.

As a volunteer, Greg was up early this morning helping to get the event ready for some 2,500 people. Jill and I were running a 5k on one of the many teams, and Joy would be watching James, who would later participate in the Tot Trot. During the awards, I was surprised to learn that I came in third in the 65-69 age group with a time of 29 minutes and 39 seconds, which was also the fastest time on our team. This year’s event help push the total funds raised for the Blanton-Davis Ovarian Research Program goal of $400,000. This morning was a happy time for a lot of runners, walkers, survivors and their families.

  1. Next year we take Chase! Of course we could make it a family affair and take Audrey, Hannah, Katelyn, and Nick. Terrific event = Kudos to all the MD Anderson crew who volunteered!

  2. Thanks for the pictures Ken!! Congratulations on your 3rd Place finish!! You won the pool……………a whopping 3 bucks!

  3. We also won ‘MD Anderson Group with the most Sprint Spirit’! Go team!
