all alone telling lies
in the land of dreaming
wondering if there will
be another tomorrow
empty shopping centers
deserted dream homes
attracting only scavengers
living off decaying dreams
as time leaves behind
yesterday’s dreams
each a decaying symbol
gazed upon by passer’s by
our backs against the wall
hoping the good times return
all material worth sucked away
leaving little hope to go around
still, so many people remain
blinded by the darkness
going through the motions
hoping this too will pass
all alone together
settling for fleeting truths
accepting false moments
in a world owned by banks
still, we know God is great
wine is perfect moving sideways
and people are crazy
in the land of dreaming
generating occasional conversations
without any emotion
over how dreams didn’t turnout
the way we had planned
“. . . where will you run when that
Santa Ana wind begins to roar”
