Telluride Panorama (All Images by kenne)
Granted, we only spent less than 24 hours in this beautiful Victorian mining town, turned ski resort, fly fishing and mountain biking community in the western San Juan Mountains — I’m here to tell you that I love this town. In hindsight, we should have scheduled more time.
Bridge over the San Miguel River
We arrived in Telluride just after a thunder storm had passed through the area and drove to our hotel located near the San Miguel River.
This river, like many Colorado rivers, is known for fly fishing and rafting.
Joy Walking The San Miguel River Trail
After checking in, we walked the trail next to the river to take the free gondola over the mountain to the companion town of Mountain Village.
Free Gondola From Telluride to Mountain Village
View from the Gondola
In the gondola ride over to Mountain Village, we were with four other people. Like most people in Telluride, they were originally from somewhere else — three now residents and one visiting for the summer. It was a joy having a dialog with them.
Top Of The Mountain
On the ride back to Telluride, we departed at the top along with mountain bikers who were eager to take on the challenging mountain bike trails. We spent a brief time walking taking in views on both sides of the ridge.
Homes in Historical District
Homes in Telluride are very expensive! One on this street that we walked down was for sale with a $1,750,000 price tag — one bedroom and one bath.
