Old Tucson — Old Western’s Filming Site   3 comments

The first time we went to Old Tucson was when James and Jill visited us in October 2010. The old movie studio is now closed. — kenne

  1. Western movie sets can be quite dangeros nowadays, can’t they? 😉
But seriously, you have just shown me another sight near Tucson I’d like to see, besides the Mission San Xavier del Bac. The latter is a place that has been on my bucket list for quite some time, as that’s the location where the novel “Der Oeprinz”, by one of my favourite German authors, Karl May, starts. I had had it on our tentative list for sightseeing on our trip up to California in June, but then we decided to just drive through in three days, and do the sightseeing only on our way back, on a different route at that. Otherwise that trip would have been 4 weeks – too long. But I haven’t given up on Tucson yet, especially now with yur additional information.
Some years ago, whe we were on our honeymoon in he Big Bend area, we happened to come across another movie set, Contrabando, which no longer exists, btw. It was quite interesting, even in its abandoned state. I have some pictures here: https://wp.me/p4uPk8-2Gc
