Capturing The Moment — Sonoran Mountain King Snake   5 comments

Looking back in time six years ago at hiking on Mt. Lemmon.– kenne

Becoming is Superior to Being

Sonoran Mountain Kingsnake (Lampropeltis pyromelana) — Image by kenne

I was bushwhacking to Brinkley Point when I spotted this colorful snake. I was about to step over a log, about one hundred feet from reaching Brinkley Point on Mt. Lemmon. This snake appeared to be a little over a little over 36″ long. This was my second opportunity to photograph a mountain kingsnake, this time with more success. It was about a year ago on Mt. Lemmon that I saw my first mountain kingsnake but was only able to get an out of focus, headless shot.

  1. I’m not sure I would like to stop and take my time for a picture! 😉

  2. I’ve come close to photographing a few others but usually move quickly under the forest cover.

  3. Just curious what camera equipment you carry when you’re hiking?
