Summer Hiking In The Catalina’s — Butterfly Trail   Leave a comment

This June 2, 2011 posting includes a video of Joy and I hiking in the Santa Catalina Mountains. As it turns out, this was the last time Joy went hiking with me.
I continue to hike the Catalinas, often as a Sabino Canyon Volunteer Naturalist guide. — kenne

Although our hiking groups had already started some hikes at higher elevations in May, the summer schedule doesn’t start till June. It’s nice to have terrain and temperature options in the Tucson area.

Yesterday, with the expected Tucson high of 101 degrees, we decided to drive up to the Mount Lemmon area to hike the Butterfly Trail and take in the 60 degree temps. (An hours drive away.) The morning started off cloudy, but soon became partly cloudy. We have started having some clouds, but the moisture doesn’t make it down when the humidity is 3%.
