The last time I ran in The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center 5k Sprint for Life was May, 2011. At 70 years of age, I was among the youngest in the over 70 category — I came in first.

This year, at 74, the competition was tougher and my time was slower at thirty minutes and one second — I came in third. Getting third place was nice, however my goal was to run the 5k under thirty minutes — “close by no cigar!”

Even so, it was a beauty day and a lot of fun. Joy and Jill did the 5k walk.
