Our solar system is beautiful beyond words. Try as we may, our ability to capture images far out paces our ability to capture the words to do justice to such beauty.

The above photo is one of several with the Smithsonian.com article, “Fantastic Photos of Our Solar System.” Life is all about being in the right place at the right time. It is only then that we can reach the unreachable and attain the unattainable.

The universe is a complex place with infinite years of light needed to capture an image of the moment in the darkness. So many moments have been missed, so to capture the long awaited moment providing evidence of human life in the darkness will be another case of “location, location, location.”

“There is no evidence of Humankind in this darkness,
everything melds into black crevices –
even the shape of the moon
fluctuates with the drifting clouds.
The night is diffused, soft,
no sharp edges,
everything cathartic and calm,
this is what the Latin’s called
Procol His,
“beyond these things”,
this is what Procol Harum calls
A Whiter Shade of Pale.”

  2. I’ve always been in awe of the Cosmos, but it wasn’t until I read Einstein that it really hit me in the head. It’s pretty humbling to know we’re all made of light.

    • Why is it the enormity of the universe always makes me want to sing:
It’s a small world after all
It’s a small world after all
It’s a small world after all
      It’s a small, small world
