Teargassing of families and children–the stuff of fascism.   6 comments

charles french words reading and writing

The Trump administration has ordered and defended the use of tear gas against families, against mothers, against children, and against babies. This is beyond reprehensible–it is evil, and it is the stuff of fascism, racism, and bigotry.

We must never become used to such abominable behavior. All of those who oppose these actions must speak out.

This must end.

Remember that we are all connected.

“No man is an island,
Entire of itself,
Every man is a piece of the continent,
A part of the main.
If a clod be washed away by the sea,
Europe is the less.
As well as if a promontory were.
As well as if a manor of thy friend’s
Or of thine own were:
Any man’s death diminishes me,
Because I am involved in mankind,
And therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls;
It tolls for thee”

  3. Kenne,

I don’t understand what we are supposed to do. I don’t condone gassing kids either but how do we keep these people out? Or do we? Do we just eliminate the border and let anybody in? This is a very difficult social problem and I don’t know how we can address it. These people are coming into our country because they need help. But how do we help them and not jeopardize our own way of life? Unfortunately, I don’t have any answers.

    • U.S. Immigration Law covers seeking asylum which states anyone entering this country can request asylum regardless of where they enter. The Administration is saying they must enter only at official points of entry is not the law. Just because one may seek asylum doesn’t mean each will be approved. I guess that placing more personnel to process the requests would have cost a lot less than the cost of placing 5,000 troops on the border.
