The cracks grow wider
Though the door is not broken
The sun shines through
Warming the dark corners
Sitting in the morning shadows
The light exposes old scars
Deepen from past experiences
Forming their own shadows
Like cracks near my eyes
The scars are not broken

This image was shot in July 2008. We (Joy and I) took Jill’s grandmother (Virginia) on a road trip from Houston to northern Wisconsin where Virginia would spend summers on her grandparent’s farm. She grew up in St. Paul.
