Desert Sunset — Image by kenne
This Old Patio
This old patio is like a river bank
where I sit under an olive tree
and watch the evening sun go down.
And this old patio comforts the old man
whose weathered bent fingers hold
a whiskey solute to another desert sunset.
This old patio is where all things stop
the moment the sun disappears
behind the now black mountains.
And this old patio is like chips and salsa
with lots of jalapeno peppers holding
back tears not crying about leaving.

Wonderfully evocative. How cool we have the same name! What are the chances?
Yes, what are the chances? Thanks for the comment, Kenne.
