Monument to a Forest Fire (2002 Bullock Fire, Santa Catalina Mountains)– Image by kenne
I walk the mountain trails
where colorful flowers grow
along magical paths
for me to follow.
Over head the sun shines brightly
warming my skin in the cool breeze
as the tall grasses
sway back and forth.
Scattered clouds begin to congregate,
cool raindrops fall on my face
while quenching the thirst
of earth’s plants and animals.
The clouds grow darker
as the lightning thunder
shares the mountain sound stage
with the wind blowing through the trees.
Animals seek shelter in the forest
running from the lightning
striking the dry forest floor
leaving behind fire sound effects.

Nature’s way of celebration or rage? can never understand but yes lighting underneath dark clouds like tearing the clouds apart to stamp it’s presence.
Yes, thanks for the comment.
